Caramel Cream Cheese Frosted Apple Cake

If you tried my Carrot Cake recipe and liked it then you are going to love my Caramel Cream Cheese Frosted Apple Cake recipe.  For several days, I have been looking at the bowl of apples on the counter and thinking I need to make something with those apples.  My mind wandered to my delicious Carrot Cake and I got the great idea to change the recipe up a little.

I substituted apples for the carrots, apple cider for the orange juice, and slivered almonds for the walnuts.  I tweaked my cream cheese frosting by adding some caramel and adjusting the amounts of cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar. Did you know you can easily make your own caramel sauce by cooking a can of condensed milk in your crock pot or on the stove for several hours?  I will post directions for that soon.

All of this tweaking to my recipe really worked out because I have to tell you that I now have a new favorite.  This was so delicious that I have got to get it out of the house so that we won’t gobble it all up.  I am going to take part of it to my friend Ange tomorrow.  Hope you enjoy it.  It is delicious with a cold glass of milk.  Afiyet olsun!
