Happy New Year 2013

January 1, 2013

Well, contrary to what the Mayan’s predicted, we made it to 2013 and we are still here with hungry bellies awaiting our next delicious meal.  As tradition would have it, the house is filled with the aroma of collard greens and black eyed peas.  I really love collard greens but for some reason only cook them on New Year’s Day.  In the South (where I am from) collards are eaten for wealth and black eyed peas for luck, so I am eating a bunch of both this year! 😉

Collard greens, black eyed peas, cornbread, onion and iced sweet tea. Yummy!!!!!!

On a serious note, I have not been very consistent with my blog in the past but I am committing to writing about the food that inspires me.  I will be blogging about Turkish food, translating recipes, sharing recipes and making food that seems complicated – simple.  So if you like, come with me on a culinary journey that will awaken your taste buds. Look out 2013, the flavor train is leaving the station . . .
