Smoked and Slow Cooked Boston Butt Pulled Pork Sandwiches
Ingredients
  • 1 4-5 pound Boston Butt
  • 2 Tablespoon Salt
  • ¼ Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Cumin
  • 1 Tablespoon Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Onion Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Paprika
  • Wood Chips for smoking the meat
  • Charcoal
  • Sesame seed buns
  • Barbecue Sauce, optional
  • White Sauce, optional
Instructions
  1. Mix the salt, brown sugar and all the spices in a bowl or jar.
  2. Trim any excess fat from the Boston Butt and pat dry with a paper towel.
  3. Sprinkle the spice mix all over and massage into the meat. You can do this 24 hours in advance if you like to give more flavor. Refrigerate until 30 minutes prior to grilling.
  4. Soak 1 Cup of Wood Chips in water.
  5. Prepare your charcoal in your grill. I personally NEVER use charcoal lighter.
  6. Make a foil packet and place the soaked wood chips in the foil packet. Seal the sides. Cut small slits in the top of the foil packet.
  7. Once the coals are fiery hot, place the Boston Butt on the grill. Lay the wood chip packet on the grill next to the meat.
  8. Close the vents on your grill, leaving a little open space. Cook for two hours, turning every thirty minutes.
  9. Remove the Butt from the grill and place in a slow cooker. Cook on low for 8-12 hours.
  10. Pull the meat from the bone and place on a bun with sauce if desired. Afiyet olsun!
