Kofte Patates aka Meatballs with Potatoes
Ingredients
  • 3 pounds Ground Beef 80/20
  • 1 Onion, grated
  • 3 Cloves Garlic
  • 3 slices Toasted Bread
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1½ Teaspoon Salt
  • ½ Teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Cumin
  • 1 Tablespoon Paprika
  • ½ Tablespoon Crushed Red Pepper Flake
  • 1 Tablespoon Onion Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • ½ Tablespoon Dried Mint
  • ¼ Bunch Parsley
  • 1 pound of new potatoes
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes
Instructions
  1. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Grate the onion into a bowl and add in the toasted bread, eggs, garlic and all the herbs and spices. Then work this into a paste. (You could also the chopper blade on your food processor to combine all the ingredients except the parsley and ground beef. Chop the parsley by hand or your kofte will have a green tinge to them. Not good.)
  3. Add the ground beef and mix until blended but not over worked.
  4. Shape the mixture into little meatballs about the size of your new potatoes and place on a baking sheet. Alternating, potato, kofte, potato, kofte, etc.
  5. Cut the cherry tomatoes into quarters and place between the meat and potatoes. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes until done. You can broil for 4 minutes or so if the meatballs are not getting browned enough. Afiyet olsun!
