Savory Meatloaf
Ingredients
  • 1 Medium Onion, chopped about 1 Cup
  • 1 Cup Chopped Red, Yellow, Orange or Green Bell Pepper or a mixture of them
  • 1½ Pounds Ground Beef
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Slice of Bread, toasted
  • 1½ Teaspoons Salt
  • ½ Teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 6 oz can Tomato Paste
  • 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • 4 Tablespoons Spicy Ketchup (use normal ketchup if desired)
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Chop the vegetables and toast the bread.
  3. Combine the onions, peppers, bread, egg, salt, pepper, garlic powder, ground beef and ⅔ of the can of tomato paste in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Spread the meat mixture into a cast iron skillet or a loaf pan and place in the oven.
  5. Mix the remaining tomato paste, ketchup and brown sugar.
  6. After the meatloaf has cooked for 30 minutes, remove from oven and spread the ketchup mixture over the top of the meatloaf.
  7. Cook for 20 to 30 more minutes.
  8. Serve with mashed potatoes and a salad. Afiyet olsun!
